I’m so happy to say that my book, “Failures of Forgiveness” is officially available online and at your local bookstore. Get your copy. I’m sure you will not regret that decision.
Here are 7 things that got me thinking (and feeling) this week…
It’s been a week that I’ve been on Book Tour for “Failures of Forgiveness.” It’s been wonderful seeing friends, my college professors, and college roommates. About the last group, I was fortunate to see all three of my undergraduate roommates. These are people that was chosen for me by the admin gods, but decades later we are still connected. If I was a novelist, our undergrad adventures would be worth documenting. But since I’m not, here’s a list of books that focus on college-friendships.
We often wear our emotions on our faces. I know I do. This amazing video by Jordan Studdard, shows this in the most creative and comedic of ways.
What does believing in someone, do to their confidence? Coach Prime has an answer.
I’ve been listening to lots of Afro Beat this year. Primarily because it makes me happy and motivated, even though I don’t understand half of what is being said. When I asked my Nigerian hairdresser to explain why Afro beat is so hot, he said that there are positive messages in them. To illustrate the point, he started translating the songs into English for me (as he twisted my locs). Now the energy it gives me makes sense. Who is my favorite Afro Beat artist? Tiwa Savage of course. And if you want to know how to use music to boost motivation, mood & improve learning, head to neuroscientist Andrew Huberman’s Latest Podcast for an in-depth answer.
“Compassion is a call, a demand of nature, to relieve the unhappy as hunger is a natural call for food,” says the 18th century British Moralist, Joseph Butler. I’ve been talking a lot about Butler recently. He doesn’t get enough “philosophical” attention, so I feel its my duty to spread the word of his brilliance. Check out some of his moral philosophy for free.
“It’s so interesting that you can dismiss a movement or an action just by calling it revenge,” says philosopher Alice MacLachlan on the latest season of the UnMute Podcast. To learn more about revenge, virtue, and social movements, head here.
A note on Public Radio: “Public radio is the most easily accessed daily news source for audiences across the country and, sometimes, the only source of local news in rural areas and regions that have become news deserts with the demise of commercial local newspapers,” says NPR President and CEO. And I agree. So we have many reasons for supporting it via donations and listening. Public radio has also been supportive of me during this book tour!!! If you are interested or need more reason to grab the book for yourself or someone else, check out my interview from IA (an affiliate out of DC) and Kera Think show (from an affiliate out of Dallas).
